Orange Agua Fresca

Hola Mi Gente,

I’ve got a super easy recipe for you today! It’s one that takes no stove time, and is sure to be the best refreshing treat on a hot summer day!

Growing up, my parents were always entrepreneurs (no one here is surprised I got a bit of that streak in my genes). At one point, they had a little food stand at the Chattanooga Farmer’s Market called the Mayan Food Connection. I remember spending many a Saturday night with my dad marinating meats and making salsa, while my mom made black beans, and filled large 5-gallon coolers with Agua Frescas.

Agua Frescas are like a lighter kind of juice. When made from fruit, they’re not quite as concentrated as juice, but they are every bit as delicious and refreshing. It’s something you can add ice to, and then maybe even spike a little. They’re simple, and unpretentious, with additives only being there to accentuate the flavor of the fruit. This particular one couldn’t be any easier with only oranges, water, and sugar, it’s the perfect drink to serve up throughout the summer!
